Common-Radio™ is a standard interface built into HAM-Radio apps. It lets external tools — decoders, loggers, contest software, station manager — connect directly, without complicated workarounds.
HOW IT WORKS
Your radio app is the host. Everything else connects to it.
Common-Radio™ is built directly into apps like SmartSDR, SDR-Control, FT-Control, TS-Control, and K4-Control. These apps act as the host — they own the connection to your radio hardware and expose a clean, standardised interface that other software can connect to.
External apps such as WSJT-X, fldigi, other logging software, digital mode decoders, contest tools — connect to that interface to receive audio, send audio, and in the future, read and change radio parameters like frequency, mode and more. No virtual cables. No per-radio configuration. No workarounds.
THE INTERFACE

Audio Interface - available now
The host app passes audio out to external apps, and accepts transmit audio back in. Works for digital mode decoding, recording, and any workflow that previously required a virtual audio cable. This interface also ensures low latency.
Radio Control Interface - coming soon
This control interface exposes the radio’s current frequency, mode, band, and other parameters to connected apps. External apps can read the radio state or request changes — enabling tight integration with loggers, decoders, and contest tools.
For users
Install the Common-Radio™ driver once. Any compatible external app can work seamlessly with your HAM-Radio app.
For developers
Common-Radio™ is designed to be an open platform for developers. In the near future, the protocol specification and interface libraries will be made available public so that developers can build their own decoders, station management software, extensions or tools for the HAM-Radio apps or integrate their existing apps even closer.
