Listen in another language

Tune a foreign broadcast and read it live. Speech is transcribed on the Mac and can be translated as you listen — for example a Chinese station, with English text on screen.

Know what you are hearing

A built-in frequency list includes the EiBi shortwave database. Tune a signal and Stations at VFO shows which station is on that frequency.

Band markers and memory markers

The panadapter marks amateur and utility bands from the enabled band plans, and drops a marker on every stored memory. Click a memory marker to recall that frequency.

Aircraft and ships on a map

Decode ADS-B and AIS and watch planes and vessels move on a live map. ACARS aircraft messages and APRS packet radio are included as well.

A cheap RTL-SDR is enough

Pagers, aircraft traffic, ham digital modes, weather fax, NAVTEX, FM radio text and more can be copied with an inexpensive RTL-SDR stick. The same app also works with HackRF, Airspy, Airspy HF+, FUNcube Dongle Pro+, ADALM Pluto, Perseus and the Icom IC-R8600 — those radios add range and performance, not a different app.

Capture the full I/Q stream — not just the audio. Play the recording back, retune inside the captured slice, and run the same decoders you use on the air.

Find signals, skip the silence

The Scanner hops a range, memories or a frequency list to find activity. The audio recorder can write only when a signal is present, so you keep the traffic and not the quiet gaps.
